Why Washington prohibits sweepstakes casinos
Washington’s gambling code (RCW 9.46) prohibits “professional gambling” broadly. The state’s interpretation has consistently classified online gambling activities - including sweepstakes-style games - as falling within this prohibition. Unlike states that explicitly legalized commercial casinos and online gambling under specific licensing frameworks, Washington has maintained a strict prohibition stance.

What WA residents can legally do
Tribal casinos. Washington has 30 tribal casinos under tribal-state gaming compacts. Class III gaming including slots, table games, and sportsbook product is available in-person at tribal properties.
Washington Lottery. Powerball, Mega Millions, and scratch-offs are legal.
Travel to a regulated state. WA residents with documented residence in another state can use accounts properly registered there. Cross-state vacation play locks out via geo-detection.
What WA residents should NOT do
